As a founding principal of Certus Consulting Engineers, Roger utilizes his expertise to spearhead the designs of mechanical and plumbing engineering systems. Having spent 29 years in the consulting engineering industry, he has a wide range of knowledge, and his technical expertise and ability to lead both internal and external teams result in high-quality design and value for stakeholders.

Over the years, Roger has worked on a wide range of projects, including project management and design of hospitals and other specialty healthcare facilities, technical facility engineering assessments, infrastructure replacement and modernization, office buildings, and educational facilities. These experiences have given Roger a working knowledge of differing state requirements and MEP engineering challenges — from earthquakes to hurricanes to extreme temperatures — and he understands the resiliency required to have an operating hospital in the worst of circumstances. Being able to solve complex engineering problems gives Roger a sense of accomplishment, and although many of the systems he designs cannot be seen, he knows they have an undeniable impact on the occupants.

Roger’s lengthy tenure in the engineering business and passion for teaching, learning, and serving have helped him forge many professional relationships and personal friendships throughout his career. Considering his knack for building connections and desire to solve problems alongside and with partners, clients and coworkers, it’s no surprise that his favorite Certus core value is, “We are people people.”

After graduating from Kansas State University and earning a Bachelor of Science degree in architectural engineering, Roger started his career at ccrd, now WSP, where he was driven to advance year after year in technical and professional development.
